Ms Sharmila Kumbhat, a passionate and dynamic entrepreneur who started her professional journey at the early age of 16 and joined K-Lite Industries, Chennai in 2012 and in a very short span, she took K- Lite Industries to new heights.
K-Lite was founded in 1977 in Chennai and has grown to be the leading manufacturer of indoor and outdoor luminaires and decorative poles. K-Lite’s proven performance in the outdoor segment is because of its ability to stylishly convey the identity of a space with a blend of efficiency and modularity to maximise the visual comfort that is best suited to each specific space.
A visionary Leader
Ms Sharmila Kumbhat, director of K-Lite Industries started her professional career at the early age of 16 in a fabrication unit “Metal Craft” where she supported her father Mr DilipKumbhat. At the age of 19, she won the “Best Female Entrepreneur Award” which was presented to her by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Later, she studied Design in New York and widely travelled around the world. While travelling she gained further experience and understanding from different cultures which continuously influenced her design and business acumen. While living in the United States for over a decade, she started and ran two very successful export-oriented companies. In order to be more directly involved in her homeland, coupled with the emotional quotient of bringing up her children in India, she joined K-lite in 2012 and within a short span of time, she was able to earn the title of “Director Business Development”. K-lite has broken into international markets, progressed tremendously and the company's turnover has increased by more than 5 folds under her leadership. In 2017-2018, K-LITE was awarded “Asia One- World’s Greatest Brands” for K-Lite’s architectural lighting & poles.

In 1977, K-Lite began a long journey of innovation in lighting products, chasing the dream of light. It has also won World’s Greatest Brands 2017-18, Architecture and Interior Design Excellence Awards & Conference 2021, Global Edition and Outstanding Performance & Contribution in Business Domain by Beginup Research Intelligence Private Limited.
Sharmila’s Journey To Success
Sharmila got inspired by her father who is a mechanical engineer and dreamt his way. The strong foundation, brand building, product development and infrastructure creation are the results of his hard work.
