Founded in the year 2013, Blinkware Technology has embarked its name in the industry as the sole AI start-up in ASEAN pioneering in Computer Vision technology on mainstream 2D web cameras for smart manufacturing. CEO, Alvin Koh started Blinkware Technology with a vision to create accessible technology that will simplify the world around us. He holds a total of 18 years of experience in local and international corporate business modeling, product development, brand marketing and sales distribution strategy spanning across South East Asia and has held key management positions across large multi-national corporations including St George Bank, Citi Group and United Overseas Bank.
Talking about the inception of the company, Alvin says, “In its early days Blinkware began as a digital interactive media provider designing motion, gesture and AR solutions which later lead the company to develop its very own Software Development Kit (SDK) for motion, gesture and facial recognition on 2D web cameras. While we were developing this technology, Blinkware was approached by one of the largest automotive assemblers in Malaysia to customize visual inspection technology using our object recognition software. After successfully executing the solution, Blinkware was approached by some of the world’s largest manufacturers including F&B, Rubber, Plastics and Agriculture for visual inspection software which leads Blinkware to develop in this space and design global I 4.0 solutions.”
Alvin finds his dynamic, creative and passionate team as the strength of the company and works with the vision to make technology accessible which would further help in making the world simpler. The humble, honest, transparent and tenacious attitude has formed the roots of the company and has embedded everything they do. Alvin has two key goals in his life. First is to impact the workplace, society, and homes through simplifying environments with intelligent and self-adapting technology and to empower the physically challenged community with technology that will improve their quality of life.
Talking about starting his journey as CEO, Alvin says, “My father was suffering from Parkinson’s disease and simple daily actions such as turning on the lights or controlling the volume of TV remote was a difficult task.
I was compelled to create a solution using motion control or simple gestures to provide a better standard of living for those with special needs. The development of this technology is still in progress and we hope to launch this platform with a global electronics provider.”
Alvin has always aimed at making it’s AI solutions highly affordable with a fast payback. He has also intended in developing solutions that would cater to the needs of the market and in delivering AI software solutions through a hardware-agnostic platform. The AI solution offered is highly scalable and works across all different sectors of manufacturing and is accessible globally.

Khai Fu Lee, the founder of Sinovation Ventures has been always been an inspiration to Alvin. His application to AI technology and its life transformation had influenced him and his views.
Alvin talking about the challenges faced says, “The biggest challenge in the AI field is the vast opportunities to build anything, it just needs huge amounts of data. At one stage we were developing technology for various sectors including surveillance, retail, smart cities, and autonomous vehicles which were exciting but with minimal payback. At that point, I consulted my closes advisors and with the support of the management team, we decided to cut back and focus on one key vertical and penetrate deep into the manufacturing segment. Reflecting back, the momentous task of realigning investors across SEA, re-positioning the team and taking full accountability on this pivot has paid back richly with tremendous growth across ASEAN in the business as a result. I learned that in the technology space you can do everything, but you should focus and just do one thing very well.”
