She is an MBA graduate from Symbiosis International University, Pune, and also has a master’s degree in construction management from the University of Westminster, London. Starting her career at the mere age of 20, Kavya has worked with renowned real estate and construction companies before she joining her family business.
“My path was pre-defined. Since the age of 10, I knew what I wanted to do. Real estate and construction are the only things that have ever intrigued me. But getting into the family business wasn’t easy I constantly doubted my capabilities. My grandfather and father have set the bar so high that it got me working harder and passionate for what I believe in,” asserts Kavya.
Having several internship stints with random companies just so she could enhance her knowledge, Kavya began at Kavuri Hills by doing clerical work. For the first few months, she kept at it and built herself up from the bottom. This unique approach towards learning fueled her growth and eventually, she climbed the ladder and established herself as one of the directors.
CONQUERING THE CHALLENGES
“Real estate is a very tricky business as understanding the process takes all the energy. The business is very old school and the employees are very resistant to change. I have tried to implement BIM (Building information management) on-site and the resistance we received from the employees is inconceivable. I believe change is the only constant and I try to incorporate this thought through my business style,” states Kavya.
Trying to bring a change is not the only challenge Kavya faces as there are several on-site challenges and constantly demand her attention. Another trail she faces every single day is being a woman in a male-dominated industry.
The onset of Covid19 spelled more troubles for Kavya. She along with her team undertook several steps to minimize the inconvenience by providing shelter to manpower and supporting them with food along with all the medical facilities which helped in restarting the work quickly and more effectively after lockdown relaxation.
Through determination, she does not deter from all these challenges and bests them one after one.
