Atal Bihari Vajpayee-Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior was established in India in 1997 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development known as the first IIIT-M when the Government took initiative to foster information technology (IT), IT-enabled management education and research. By the time this institute became National importance for the Parliament. ABV - IIITM is at the vanguard of imparting superior quality technical and managerial education with pertinent skills, situated in Gwalior, the northern part of Madhya Pradesh. This institute is an apex ISO 9001:2008 certified Institute which is only of its kind in the country.

Dr. Rajendra Sahu is a Professor at ABV- IIITM, Gwalior. He earned his Ph. D. from IIT Kharagpur, after completing his master’s degree both in Management and Engineering. His primary areas of interest are Systems Approach to Management, Business Analytics, IT-enabled Services, ERP, Supply Chain Management, Knowledge Management, Data Warehousing and Data Mining. He has served as a Director at IIIT, Basar-Andhra Pradesh for two terms. Dr Sahu has more than 30 years of teaching, research and consulting experience. During this tenure, he has been associated with various national and international consulting projects, the editorial board of 08 international journals guided 10 PhD scholars and published more than 100 research articles. He has conducted several management developments, faculty development and training programmes for leading Organizations. He has been active in developing web-based pedagogy and resource material. Prof. Sahu has been awarded as the Best Professor in Knowledge Management by 26th Business School Affairs and Dewang Mehta National Education Award. He has also been honoured with the prestigious Dr Abdul Kalam Gold Medal in 2015 as a Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding individual achievements in the field of education and research. He has been associated with various national and international boards.

ABV - IIITM is the first ISO 9001:2008 certified Institute of the country with world-class State-of-the-art infrastructure, A professionally recognized, experienced and competent faculty. Also we can say “A Strong and vibrant alumni base”. ABV - IIITM has academic and research collaboration with Universities in the USA, France, and Japan. The state-of-the-art laboratories, well-stocked properly maintained library, sports facilities along with an excellent placement record in addition to it. Pioneer in organizing various training programmes - Training for Professionals (TFP) and Management Development Programmes (MDP’s) ABV-IIITM gives high priority to research and development projects sponsored by national agencies, along with academic research leading to a doctoral degree. There were 10 new projects sanctioned by various funding agencies named as MHRD, ICSSR and DST and more in 2021. Institute has a quality infrastructure in terms of buildings, equipment and other IT facilities, spreading over 150 acres, this includes about 5 acres of constructed and rest green land.
There are 24 x 7 Internet facilities, security and electricity. Offline, online both the libraries are available with full access to research journals and magazines. Battery operated two Golf Carts for easy movement. Plus wheelchairs in hostels and dispensaries.
The institute has got 161st Global Rank and 1st Rank in India (continuously for the third time) awarded by Universities of Indonesia (UI) the UI Green Metric ranking which is the first university ranking that is based on a high commitment to environmental preservation. UI creates Green Metric in order to stimulate universities in the world to compete on environmental awareness, it is based on three basic philosophies consisting of Environment, Economic, and Equity (3 E’s). The assessment indicators are campus greenness statistic (15%), solid waste management (18%), energy and climate change (21%), water usage (10%), transportation (18%) and education (18%).
The Institute subscribes to this consortium which provides students with a wide repository of knowledge through 200 journals and industrial databases like IEEE, EBSCO, CME, ABI/Inform complete, ACM Digital Library, IEL Online, Pro-Quest Science Journals and Springer Verlag’s links. The Institute library is well stocked with a rich collection of 15,000 references and textbooks in the area of management, IT, Computer Science, Networking, Social Science along with industry-related research papers and project reports. Institute's various IT tools are used in functional areas like marketing research, decision support system, operational research and others. Along with academics, sports are also given adequate importance at ABV-IIITM. They have a full-fledged complex and also games facilities in each student hostel. One of the top institutes in India that have recorded excellent placements. The institute continues to lead in Scopus listed publications amongst centrally funded IIITs with 1200+ publications
