The outspread of Coronavirus has left the world stunned. In the wake of horror, many companies including South Korean company LG Electronics, Swedish telecommunication Ericsson and graphics Nvidia and now, Amazon is pulling out of Mobile World Congress (MWC) citing concerns over the spread of Coronavirus. The company stated that it is backing out due to the outbreak and growing concerns over the virus. Amazon will withdraw form exhibiting and participating in Mobile World Congress 2020. Many industry experts and leaders have warned the others are most likely to follow the suit as the virus is showing no sign of slowing down.
Ericsson has already taken a number of precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of its employees, claimed the company. It has minimized the impact on the company’s operations. Only after internal risk assessment, Ericsson has decided to take further precautionary measures by withdrawing from the MWC Barcelona 2020. The event is the largest event in the telecom industry. The move has come as the company has numerous visitors in its hall each day and even the risk of the virus is low, the company is taking no chances with the safety of its employees as well as visitors as it cannot guarantee safety. Similarly, LG Electronics had issued a statement regarding the safety of its employees, partners and customers.
MWC organizer GSMA said that it is monitoring and assessing the potential threats of the virus on its event which is held annually in Barcelona, Shanghai, and Los Angeles. ZTE – Chinese tech major canceled the press conference at the MWC 2020 in the light of virus outbreak but it will still have booth space at the show and it is going to participate as planned.
