After LVMH noted a USD$417 billion market value thanks to a surge in share price, Arnault’s 47 per cent stake became the most important in the world. With a net worth of USD$196 billion, Arnault is firmly the richest man in the world. The luxury business, which is responsible for Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, TAG Heuer, Hennessy, Sephora and Christian Dior reported a whopping 30 per cent surge in stock price year-to-date. With Amazon founder and perennial rich list winner Jeff Bezos’ wealth slipping, the French businessman is now the world’s richest man.

That being said, the entrepreneur has notched up three years as the world’s richest man and his personal wealth is now up to USD$186 billion, a jump of USD$73 billion from a year ago as a result of surging Amazon shares.
