Founded in the year 2003 and affiliated to Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth Rahuri, Dist. Ahmednagar (MS); Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology has excellent infrastructure, well-equipped laboratories, facility for field demonstrations, excellent sports facilities and career guidance cell along with placement of students at national and international levels.
The Pioneers
Dr. Sanjay D. Patil is the chairman of D. Y. Patil Group, Kolhapur which runs more than 30 educational institutions which caters education in the fields of Medical, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Engineering, Architecture, Management, Hospitality Studies, Agriculture and so on. His dynamic leadership and his constant dedicated efforts have converted the barren land of the Talsande campus into a lush green land. He insisted to establish Automated DripIrrigation System, Plantation of various Field Crops, Vegetable Crops, Floriculture, Spices & Condiments, Ornamentals and many more. This helps the students in study & experimentation.
For his incredible work, he has been awarded many awards including Indira Priyadarshini Award, Vrikshmitra Award, Kolhapur Bushan Award, Vidya Bharati Award, Rashtriya Shikshan Sanman and Krishi Bhushan Award.
Mr. Ruturaj S. Patil is the MLA of South Kolhapur and Trustee of D. Y. Patil Education Society, Kolhapur and strives for the development of youth through education and international exposure.
An Emblem of Excellence
The college is committed to the overall growth of students through well planned, graded and tested systems of instructions in a disciplined manner with an aim to produce qualified, capable and devoted Agricultural Engineers. Along with academic excellence, the College has a very well developed and maintained campus with a variety of Fruit crops, cash crops, vegetables, cereal, spices, Dairy and poultry units. The entire farm is under advanced irrigation systems including drip, sprinklers, micro-sprinklers and irrigation atomization unit.
The exotic Vegetable production, inter cropping in sugarcane and coconut, use of mulching, use of organic inputs, processing, advanced machinery, ripening chambers, water storage farm ponds, protected cultivation, high-density plantation of Mango and Guava, Dragon fruit plantation are the special features of the farm. Such a rich technological establishment on-farm facilitates deep and complete practical knowledge to the students. Along with this, the institute organizes various extracurricular activities like Technical competitions, cultural and social programs, sports tournament, national, and international training, Industrial Hands-on trainings and Alumni talks.
The good quality teaching learning process of the institute have resulted in receiving 3 University Gold Medals by our students in 2009, 2014 and 2018 and seven alumni have also been selected as Agril. Research Scientists. Viewing the all-around development and the dedication in improvising the Agriculture Campus, Talsande has received the ‘Business Excellence Award-2019’ from Sakal Agrowon for excellence in Agricultural Education.
The college has also been listed in “The Ten Best Agriculture Institute in India, 2020” by the Knowledge Review Magazine.
Navigating Through Global Pandemic
Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Talsande trained the faculty to conduct online sessions and implemented Problem based learning in the teaching-learning process. Keeping together in the tough times, the institute gave prime importance to quality education and included systematic planning of all the online classes in advance, before the opening of the college. The students preparing for PG and future placements were kept under special concern and were updated by organizing test series; alumni talk series and unique activity senior to junior lecturing.
Reaching New Heights
The institute looks forward to adopting innovative and effective ways of imparting education to meet the challenges. Institute has also started the international training to faculty and students widening the areas of training & student/faculty exchange with the renowned and world-class institutes. The faculties are also trained on PBL by Netherlands University giving a new approach and widening the knowledge.
In the coming years, the institute looks ahead to becoming one of the finest colleges in India for imparting excellent education, solution-oriented training and outstanding career.
