Before joining Werner Enterprises in 1999, Mr. Leathers was a top executive of a US-owned Mexican trucking company. He also served as one of the first foreign members of CANACAR, Mexico’s trucking association. He continues to grow Werner’s business both at home and internationally.

Mr. Leathers was instrumental in getting lawmakers to approve a historic new trade deal with Canada and Mexico. It was in July 2019 when he took his international industry advocacy to Capitol Hill and testified in favor of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) which modernized the NAFTA agreement drafted in 1992 and implemented in 1994.

As a strong industry advocate, he has had tremendous success when bringing issues to lawmakers. His driving force is his passion for the industry, including the wellbeing and prosperity of all professional drivers.
